📚 In Memory of Sandra Hartmann 🌹
The Alfred H. Baumann Free Public Library mourns the passing of longtime Trustee, Sandra Hartmann, whose 24 years of distinguished service left an indelible mark on our library and community.
Sandra first joined the Board of Trustees in 1987, serving until 2001, and then returned for another decade of service from 2012 through December 2021. Throughout her tenure, she worked with four library directors and nine mayors, always providing steady leadership and thoughtful guidance.
She held the role of Board Secretary for sixteen years and also served a term as Board President. Beyond her leadership roles, Sandra contributed her time and expertise on numerous committees, always committed to strengthening the library for future generations.
Among her many contributions, Sandra is perhaps most remembered for establishing and leading the library’s beloved Annual Poetry Contest, which she guided for twenty years. This program enriched the cultural life of our community and encouraged creativity in countless participants.
Sandra’s legacy extends beyond programs. She was instrumental in shaping the policies and procedures that continue to guide our library today, especially in areas of personnel and general library operations. Her thoughtful approach and dedication helped build the foundation on which we continue to grow.
We are deeply grateful for Sandra’s vision, leadership, and devotion to the Alfred H. Baumann Free Public Library. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.
